Bush-Cheney: Weapons of Mass Deception

Lest We Forget Their Sordid Past

Dick Cheney, arguably the most powerful Vice President in history, just endorsed VP Kamala Harris in her campaign for President. Cheney was notorious as the war profiteering mastermind behind the Iraq War from which Halliburton, the oil servicing company that he had been CEO of prior to joining the Bush administration, made billions in profits from government contracts. He was also infamous for having shot-gunned a hunting partner in the face and chest in 2006 contributing to his also being considered one of the least popular VPs with a final approval rating of 13%.

Former President George W. Bush has declined to endorse Harris or Trump, but a number of other disaffected Republicans have endorsed her. It is worth remembering that his final approval rating in 2008 was just 22%, the lowest of any President since Gallup began asking about presidential approval over 80 years ago. His attempts at rebranding himself have apparently been successful, as his approval rating in 2018 had risen dramatically to 61%. However, it is cynically disturbing that one of his methods has been to create paintings of the veterans he was responsible for maiming.

It is amazing how quickly the war crimes of two decades ago are forgotten from torturing prisoners to lying about weapons of mass destruction in order invade Iraq and fulfill the neoconservative goals of the Project for a New American Century (PNAC). Rampton and Stauber in Weapons of Mass Deception note that “Since propaganda is often aimed at persuading people to do things that are not in their own best interests, it frequently seeks to bypass the rational brain altogether and manipulate us on a more primitive level, appealing to emotional symbolism.”

Unfortunately, our government has a history of such deceptive manipulation of information for the purposes of manufacturing consent for war efforts dating back to the sinking of the Lusitania in 1915 which was used as propaganda for entry into WWI. The passenger liner was also carrying munitions which caused the Germans to publish warnings in American newspapers. Woodrow Wilson had run for President on a pacifist platform, but subsequently formed the Committee for Public Information featuring the slogan from Edward L. Bernays, “Make the world safe for democracy.”

The Gulf of Tonkin Incident in 1964 was a more egregious example of using reports of an attack on US vessels off the coast of North Vietnam which later turned out to be false, but not before President Johnson used it to announce retaliatory airstrikes and escalate the Vietnam War. The Pearl Harbor Attack in 1941 was also tainted with military disinformation, as there is evidence that warnings were ignored, and the aircraft carriers vital to winning the war in the Pacific just happened to be out at sea leaving the obsolete battleships to be destroyed and propel the US into WWII.

The PNAC plan for transformation in 2000 which called for the establishment of a “Homeland Security” agency, for dramatically increasing “defense” spending, and for a permanent US presence in the Persian Gulf, was thought “likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new Pearl Harbor.” On the evening of 9/11/2001, Bob Woodward notes that Pres. Bush said in his diary: "The Pearl Harbor of the 21st century took place today." So, was 9/11 just another in a long line of government war deceptions or was it actually a false flag attack?

False flag attacks are a psyop where a country covertly orchestrates an attack on itself, but makes it appear to have been attacked by agents bearing the flag of another country. German Commander-in-Chief Hermann Goering was a master of this deception staging the Reichstag Fire in 1933 and blaming it on a Communist patsy to solidify the National Socialist Party’s control of Germany. The Nazis also staged an attack in 1939 on the Gleiwitz Radio Station at the Polish border with SS officers dressed in Polish uniforms justifying Hitler’s invasion of Poland to start WWII.

The CIA and Pentagon learned a thing or two from the Germans as demonstrated by their Operation Northwoods proposal to President Kennedy in 1962 at the height of military tensions with Cuba. A variety of false flag attacks were planned including the fake sinking of a boatload of Cuban refugees, the fraudulent blowing up of a US ship, and the simulated downing of a civil airliner by a Cuban fighter jet. Kennedy rejected the entire operation and was later quoted by an anonymous White House source after the Bay of Pigs fiasco that he would “splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces.”

The evidence that 9/11 was indeed a false flag attack and textbook example of mass hypnosis is as strong as the storyline of the official narrative is weak, although the “inside job” topic has been taboo in the mainstream media for 3 decades. Withheld until a 2005 NY Times lawsuit, some NYFD testimonials mentioned bombs going off in the WTC buildings. WTC 7 was not hit by a plane, but collapsed on TV while Dan Rather commented about when buildings are “deliberately destroyed by well placed dynamite.” In fact, no other burning skyscrapers have ever collapsed before or since.

The WTC security contract was held by Securacom, a company run by Bush’s brother Marvin and his distant cousin Wirt Walker, III. Vanity Fair reported that a NORAD training mission was taking place on 9/11 simulating hijacked planes from Boston flying into the WTC, so air traffic controllers couldn’t tell real from pretend planes. A few months before 9/11, Dick Cheney changed the chain of command by which NORAD would directly signal fighter jets to intercept suspicious planes to instead go through his office first. On 9/11, all roads lead back to Bush and Cheney.

Harris embracing the endorsement by Cheney provides evidence that the transition of the War Party designation from the Republican Party of the Bush years to the Democratic Party of the Biden Administration is now complete. The neocon torch was passed on to warmongering Victoria Nuland, architect of the proxy war in Ukraine, with full complicity of the US in the bombing of the Nord Stream Pipeline and the sabotage of peace treaties with Russia. Ironically, former Democrats Trump, Gabbard, Kennedy and Shanahan of the Unity Coalition oppose the war.

In a double irony, the Presidential election is scheduled for Guy Fawkes Day, a British holiday commemorating the 1605 Gunpowder Plot suspiciously similar to modern false flag attacks. It features prominently in V for Vendetta, a 2006 blatant parody of the Bush Adminstration including a false flag attack orchestrated by a sneering Mr. Creedy as the Secret Police Commander with an eerie resemblance to Dick Cheney. “Remember, remember, the fifth of November … People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.”

Regarding being afraid, I addressed these scary issues in Wake Up from the Trance of Fear. Charles Eisenstein, Kennedy’s advisor, doesn’t choose a side, but makes some insightful observations about Trump fears. “Whatever his flaws and virtues, he is definitely a talented showman, a creator of spectacle, as one would expect from the Joker, the Jester, the Trump. The showman’s openness to projection allows the spectators to see in him that which he is not, whether hero or villain. He is a cipher, a proxy through which society’s intensifying divisions can materialize in human form.”

“He is not a strategic genius out-maneuvering the deep state in a match of 4D chess. Nor is he a Mussolini figure, a bigoted fascist marshaling resurgent far-right forces to elevate him into dictatorial power.” Regarding fears about Project 2025, Eisenstein notes that Trump said to Kennedy, “That thing? I didn’t even know about it until people started to complain. It was written by some right-wing asshole. There’s something crazy on every page.
